Where’s Ava? (SLJ)

Hello everybody, this morning my friend Claire called me and asked if I wanted to do a SLJ task.  This came as a real shock because i’d completely forgotten about it! So we quickly hopped on our Chromebooks and looked around the site for today’s task.  I grew up reading ‘Wheres Wally?’ With my gran and close family I feel like it’s an important factor of my childhood because I remember these memories so well. I enjoyed watching the instruction video today because it gave me a good understanding of what we were about to do.

Here’s my Wheres Wally! Can you find me?

My work is on slide: 4, I think I could’ve done better but overall i’m still proud of the work I’ve accomplished. My favorite slide is the last one where I included the image showing people on the pier. I tried to make it kind of realistic by making a person protest in the bottom right corner. What do you think I could’ve done to improve? Whats your favorite slide?

Hopefully you enjoyed!

New Task?

This week and last week the teachers included a new rule. As you know every week we have to pick a new task of the task bored. But some people have been doing 5 second tasks that aren’t made properly. When you make something about or including the Gospel or God you need to take your time and make it with love. So teachers encouraged us to do role plays and news reports since these tasks need a lot of time to complete. This week I did a drawing I tried to incorporate lots of the main things i’d learnt. I had to Include-

1} The Gospel Reference

2} Images that tell the gospel in a way.

With the tasks in mind I used these Images as inspiration.

What did you do this week for gospel?

Brilliant Bingo Boards

This Week and last week, I have been working on my writing bingo board. It has multiple different activities such as, picture writing where you find a picture on literacy shed, and then base your story on it. Im quite proud of mine so here is a link in case you would like to read it.

Here is my Bingo Bored if you would like to check out what it looks like and what the tasks are.

How many tasks did you complete?

Marvelous Math’s

Kia ora,

For this math’s create we had to make a standard birthday party with a set budget we couldn’t cross, firstly we had $100 to spend on snacks and a cake, here is the recipe I used ~Recipe~ We had to gather all the ingredients to make the perfect cake! We needed to make sure we had enough snacks for eight guests, that includes drinks too. For the second part of our create we needed to plan some activities to keep our guests entertained, for this part we had a budget of $160, we had to use this wisely though because if you think about it eight people costs a lot of money. See what I chose on my slide ⇩

Supertastic Science Roadshow!

Yesterday we had a visit from the Science Roadshow. The focus of the session was Sound Waves. We enjoyed two shows and got to test out many different experiments.

Some of the main messages about Sound Waves were that they could travel at high speeds in objects such as concrete and air.

Something I enjoyed the most was the kinetic sand because it sunk through my fingers and it could go from wet to dry in the matter of picking it up and dropping it again.

My favorite part of the Science Roadshow was the kaleidoscope because when me and my friends went inside there were heaps of us. It went on forever and we kept running into the walls.

Something I will take away from this visit was that science can come in many different forms and it’s not just mixing weird coloured liquids because we experienced many forms like the spinning chair.

What do you think could absorb more a sponge or a chux wipe?

The Digestive System-Writing

Over the past couple weeks we’ve been learning and working around the digestive system. Mrs Carney first read us a book called “Gut Garden” The Gut Garden is heaps of microbes and most of the population is located in the large intestine. The book was about all the different paths and tracks your food takes.

Over the cause of a couple days we’d finished the book everyone had learnt a bunch of facts like.

  • When the small intestine is rolled out it can measure a whooping 10 meters.
  • It takes 36 hours for food to travel through the large intestine.

While this we were challenged to use different language features such as Similes, and we also had to Make subheadings for every paragraph.

Healthy Me

This week in my hub we started our mini PBL task, it’s called healthy me. For 3 weeks we have 2 lessons normally they are on Wednesday and Tuesday, every week we rotate around the subjects. This week I had Miss Gill and shes teaching nutrition she taught us how to read the info panel on food. Heres a photo of my own info panel.

Do you know how to read an Info Panel? Hope you enjoyed My blog Post!

Math´s Game!

This week we ´ re trying something new in math ´ s instead of math boards we ´ re going to do math games. So basically we create a math game such as a form of bingo, a word Scrabble and a blank numbers game. This week our main equation was division but you could also add some other types of equations in too. I decided to do a bingo game right here ⇩

Click on it to zoom in.

Powerful Peace Art-Wk10

It’s the last week of term so I decided I’d try something new for RE. We’ve been doing a mini PBL since we finished our real one a while back. Our Focus is peace so I did a peace art work. Everyone’s done one but I wanted to do another one because my other one wasn’t the best. One of the reasons I chose this was because  we get to put them on the wall after.

My Piece of Art Work includes a ring of flower petals around the outside as a border and a peace symbol and peace fingers in the middle. Soon It will join the others on the wall.

Do you know a lot about peace? If so can you name 3 things peace means to you?

Malala Yousafzai

Welcome, for the last couple weeks we’ve been learning about different peacemakers and this week we did Malala Yousafzai she’s an inspiration to many. Malala Tells a unique story so lets start from the beginning.

Malala was born in 1997 Mingora, Pakistan on July 12th. In Pakistan it wasn’t a big celebration to have a girl but her father was determined to give her an educated life.

Malala’s father ran a girls school but it was soon shut down due to the Taliban entering. The Taliban entered her country, they began setting a large range of rules such as no music, and no television.

Malala soon spoke out for girls right to learn, Malala was determined to fight for the rightful education girls needed and weren’t getting. Malala wrote a blog under another’s name protesting for their rights. The Taliban stayed quiet for a while but then suddenly  bordered her bus on the way home from school. They asked “Who here is Malala?” Then Malala was shot on the left side of her head. She was rushed to multiple Hospitals and recovered after a while. Once she had fully healed she began protesting again, soon she won the Nobel peace prize and did something amazing she donated 500,000$ To build a girls school in Pakistan.

What would you do with 500,000 dollars?
