The Girl in the Red Cape

Last week for reading we had to create a book cover using a google drawing template. We created the front and back covers. The book cover needed to be something that I would want to read, and would pick off the shelf either at the library or the shops.

We also did some learning about what makes a good fit book for all of us in my reading group. We then create group ground rules to follow while we work in our reading group.

Below is a screenshot of my book cover.

2013-08-18

A 3 year old child walks alongside her mother pleading with her “Mummy let me go please pretty please?” her mother finally gave in and they headed towards a house with a huge banner clearly embroidered with the words garage sale. Straight away Mina (the 3 year old) spots a doll her mother tries to say no but her head is forced to nod. The little girl jumps with happiness, clearly not noticing the creepy white gown and red blotches on the doll. She runs her fingers through the black tangled main of the doll as they walk up to pay.

10 years later….

Matted and old, the doll’s eye lopsided; she sits in the corner of Mina’s room just as she has for the last 7 years she’s finally had enough. The only thing on the doll’s mind was Mina. She wanted to hurt her and wanted to make her cry and live a horrible life so the doll changed her form. Yes this doll could go from human to doll but there was one problem she could only ever wear a red cape and a light white dress. First she wants to get rid of Mina’s mother because she was hesitant to buy the atrocious doll.

~That night~

The girl in red lugged Minas mother into a dungeon set with bars aligning the walls then she stabs a knife right through the heart coughing and gasping for air the Mother screams but she doesn’t wake anyone up. Now Mina lives in a fair. She never leaves the house and before every night she throws the doll out the window but it always comes back watching her every move planning the next attack  but one day everything changes…….

Horror of The House of Halls (PT1)

1956/Friday/November

What started off as a normal day for Claire Kennedy soon turned grave. Claire had just gotten out of school when she saw a $50 dollar note dragging across the pave, she being a curious 11 year old raced after it it was slowly blowing across the road ahead of her, she pounced across the road but just then she felt a cold hand brush her side pulling her back across the road then a bright yellow car sped past. Claire was grateful but as she turned around to thank her savour there was no one there.  Although she thought nothing of it she just assumed that the person was in a hurry and needed to go. Claire had forgotten why she was there looked both ways and sprinted across the shingled path she was very aware that she was going on a trip so when she fell over a twig she had the strength to pull herself back to a standing position.

That was PT 1 see you next time for PT2 bye

The wild adventure of Wood-end camp!

The Camp Of  Chaos

Hello this is entry number 44 camp chapter 1 I’m Ava your Agent now today we are going into the life of a year six girl on her first camp Let’s go!

At the crack of dawn, I awoke sleepy & grumpy. I hadn’t slept well at all as the pterodactyl’s refused to slumber. Dragging my feet across the hall and out the door wheeling my suitcase slowly behind me, I hopped into the car as my Dad and I waddled into school my heart pounding out of my chest. This was it! I was terrified but I had to face my fear. I didn’t want to get on the bus it was scary and the school was my safe place I pleaded with my Dad “I’m scared Dad I can’t do this noooooooo I can’t go” But to late I was on the bus trapped no escape.

I made the journey to camp just fine although it was so noisy I had a headache we sat down for lunch and talked for a while then we headed off for a long walk.

The walk took hours. It was so hot it felt like the sun was giving me a pat on the back and felt as long as the Nile river. My friends and I walked slowly chatting every second, and at one point we even started tripping over ourselves. We were so tired.

When we arrived at camp we flopped down on our beds we were all so tired but our first activity was coming up orienteering!

I listened to my dad while staring up at the trees.

The forest was above me towering down, this was it, the last glimpse of light. The map was labelled and I was so confused I felt like a tiger trying to decipher an apple in a maze of tomatoes. I was a raging storm making sure I destroyed everything in my path. Slowly one by one,I ticked off the poles.

Go Carts woo-hoo I was exited for my turn I knew I’d rule over everyone.

The engine roared and hissed as I hit the gas pedal. As I gathered speed I felt dust surrounding my lungs. I’d never gone this fast before.

Kaboom! Swish! Screech! I brushed the finish line and parked perfectly.

Time for zip lining no time to spare

The Zipline towers down at me trying to scare me away, but I’m not scared at all! I start to climb as I feel the wind against my hair. It’s howling back at me but I brush the fear away. I tell myself I love this stuff as I get to the top. I feel like a dog being attached to the harness then the gate opens I rush out and a nice lady hooks me on, weeeeeeeee! I did it! I soared through the air like an eagle catching its prey.

Up the climbing wall “go go go”

I set off up the wall with confidence. I’m off clambering, carefully, catapulting myself up the wall.  As I get higher my palms go sweaty and hurt a lot. I’m stuck. I don’t know what to do but I want to keep going. I grab for a hole but badly misplace it. I feel like I’ll fall but I just swing there mid air. I tell my group I need to come down and I’m lifted to safety.

Food yes!

he smell of chicken drifted from table to table wafting under people’s noses encouraging them to have more. What was that wonderful smell? Chicken and Veg! My fav! As the chicken gets wedged between my teeth I stuff more and more into my mouth until I can’t eat anymore.

Time to explain my bunk room mainly night one

It was the dead of night. I was nervous and only a handful of my friends were awake. It was cold and I felt shaky. I wanted to go home and I had a sudden urge to shout out. I felt like crying so I went to find my dad BUT HE WENT TO BED! I couldn’t believe it so I sprinted back to my room slamming the door behind me. I started to cry and my friends came to comfort me. After a while I gave up on trying to get to sleep and my friends just talked and talked and talked until dawn.

Thank you for listening to number 44 report Chapter one I’m Ava and thank you Please

keep in mind this is why you should go to Woodend Camp.
